In their publication, historians Lukáš Cvrček and Pavel Fabini present significant historical events and processes of the 20th century through the fates of specific people connected with today's Prague 5 district, including both leading figures from the political and business worlds who helped shape history, and ordinary people whose lives were affected by momentous events. The unifying backdrop for the stories is the area of municipalities and towns that make up today's Prague 5, which included heavily industrialized areas as well as places with a completely rural character.
